A Hodgepodge

“Still round the corner there may wait, A new road or a secret gate. ” J.R.R. Tolkien.

I’m not really sure what this blog will turn into. A platform for fiction. A place for meanderings. A place to vent. A place for spiritual realizations. I may branch off with separate sub blogs for the venting. Or not. Book reviews.

Facebook is too casual. Twitter too short. But perhaps here I can do some long-form writing and also some long form reading. It helps to both calm and stretch the mind. Twitter is for sound bites (and I guess longer threads).

So this is a start. Or rather, a restart. I’ve had a blog under a pseudonym. I had 150+ blog posts and about 600 followers. I’m not sure what I am going to do with that work. But here I am going to start and see where this leads me.

Making it more than a dream

I’ve always wanted to be a writer. Since I began to read chapter books in the third grade, I’ve wanted to write stories.

I have now reached senior citizen status, as of yesterday. My writing “career” has muddled along in fits and starts. I have a degree in English/Linguistics from MSU.

I’ve been paid for my writing exactly twice in my life. The first time about 30 years ago when pregnant with my son. It was a story about overcoming endometriosis. The second time was five years ago for Chicken Soup for the Soul.
